CRISTIANO RONALDO got put right in his place – after being told by stadium staff to wear his protective mask.

The Portugal superstar was watching his nation’s thrilling 4-1 win against Croatia from the stands.

But Ronaldo was not adhering to protocol and a female member of staff walked up the steps in the stand to remind him he needed to wear one.

He immediately put on one.

Other footballers around him were already wearing their PPE, designed to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

However, the Juventus star either forgot or thought that he would not need his.

The female member of staff is seen walking away after asking Ronaldo to put his own.

The footage emerged on Twitter.

Portugal went on to record an impressive 4-1 win over Croatia in the Uefa Nations League group A3 match.

Former Real Madrid and Manchester United star Ronaldo was rested for the match.

Goals from Manchester City star Cancelo, Wolves striker Diogo Jota, Nuno Sequeira and Andre Silva sealed the points for the hosts.

Bruno Petkovic replied for Croatia late on.

Wolves’ Joao Moutinho and Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva played, along with Manchester United’s £55m signing Bruno Fernandes, who impressed in midfield with one assist.

The match was played at Porto’s Estadia do Dragao ground.

Ronaldo used to play for Porto’s rivals Sporting Lisbon.

There are still a huge number of coronavirus cases in Portugal but it has become the centre of a political football in the UK.

Governments in Scotland and Wales have demanded UK tourists quarantine for two weeks after returning from holidays in Portugal.

But residents of England and Wales currently do not have to.
