Sept. 8 (BP) — Queen Elizabeth was under medical supervision at Balmoral castle Thursday after her doctors issued a statement saying they were concerned about her health, according to Buckingham Palace.
“Following further evaluation this morning, The queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision. The queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral,” the palace said, referring to her castle in Scotland.
Prince Charles and Camilla have gone to the estate, according to a statement. Other members of the royal family have been informed.
Elizabeth is 96 years old.
A British House of Commons debate was interrupted with the news of the queen’s health.
“I know I speak on behalf of the entire House when I say that we send our best wishes to Her Majesty the Queen and that she and the royal family are in our thoughts and prayers at this moment,” Speaker Lindsay Hoyle said.
The queen swore in new Prime Minister Liz Truss from Scotland earlier this week when traditionally that is done at Buckingham Palace.
Truss said in a statement, “The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime.”
“My thoughts — and the thoughts of people across our United Kingdom — are with Her Majesty the Queen and her family at this time.”
